The philosophy of The Silver Lining Foundation is to encourage the
development of long lasting relationships with children who are battling
cancer. Instrumental to our vision, are the many follow-up programs provided for the children. The
communication network is a key operation that keeps the family together.
The follow-up program activities with our participants are critical to the
nurturing and to the preservation of the type of relationship we encourage
with these special children. These are programs that they can rely on
throughout their illness and their lives. Whenever a ranch participant
telephones to share some news, a familiar voice on the other end of the
phone can make a difference between an impersonal connection and a true
relationship.
Advancements in medical science have extended the lives of these children.
However, this may mean a longer life but not necessarily a better life. It
is imperative that we try to enhance the ongoing quality of life for these
children, beyond providing an unforgettable experience in the idyllic
setting of Aspen, Colorado. The week long sessions at the Silver Lining
Ranch initiates the bonding process and forms the basis of trust. Our
approach is centered around building and enhancing relationships with these
children and their families for a life-time.
There are no goodbyes at The Silver Lining Foundation.
